Stillwater Reservoir is located in the West Central Adirondacks; we are 26 miles north and east of Lowville or 28 miles north and west of Old Forge. Driving to Northern Lights, you will enjoy a scenic drive through the Park, the last 10 miles being an unpaved road. You will find ample parking at the B&B for trucks with either snowmobile or boat trailers. The public Boat launch at the Stillwater Reservoir is free! Please talk with us should you wish to keep your boat at the Stillwater Shop dock during your stay.
This property was purchased by Frank and Jackie Rudolph in 1998 and re-constructed in the tradition of the Adirondack Camp as a Bed and Breakfast over several years. The B&B is family occupied by our family plus our dog Luna, some barn cats, Maggie Mae and BellaDonna and our horse barn which currently hosts 5 horses which are Jackie's passion!
Renovations have been a labor of love which has transformed the home from its' original design. The project continues to evolve as with all homes - you're never quite done! Canopies, decks, perennial gardens and interior wood work will continue to evolve as long as we're here.
Nestled in the woods 1/4 mile from the reservoir, you will see lots of birds, especially hummingbirds in the summer. Keep watch for bald eagles and you will hear the loons as you drift off to sleep on summer nights. A short walk or moment in the car will bring you to the boat launch area where canoes and kayaks are available for rent from the Stillwater Shop, .. During your stay you may also encounter lots of other wild life - you may see a heron, turkeys, coyote, bear, deer, or maybe even a moose! We've even seen moose, otters and bobcats on the way to the school bus (not at the same time of course!).
Please coordinate your arrival time with us as our passion for life keeps us out and about and we rarely sit inside but want to be available to greet you!
This area is beautiful year round. Spring is late in coming and often brief. Summertime offers opportunities for mountain biking, fishing, canoing, kayaking, boating, hiking, picnicking, swimming, bird watching, or just relaxing with that book you've been trying to read! Fall brings cool nights and warm days and winter opens the door for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. Our remote location will allow you to enjoy star gazing without interference from light pollution common in metropolitan areas. A clear night will offer a phenomenal star display. And yes we have seen the Northern Lights on several occasions
